How to Make A Solar Still

If you are ever stranded and caught without a fresh water source, you may need to make a solar still to get rehydrated. Just follow these easy steps.

1. Dig a hole and place a cup in the center
2. Place brackish water, urine, vegetation and other sources of water in the hole, but not in the cup
3. Place a clear plastic sheet over the hole and weight it with a small rock so that the sheet drops into the center of the cup
4. As water evaporates from the hole's contents, it condenses on the underside of the plastic sheet and then drips into the cup
5. After several hours there may b e some drinkable water in the cup
6. Running a straw from the cup to the topsheet allows you to drink water from the cup without tearing down the still
